Deep, directed, clinical field practice is at the center of the programs in the School of Education at Salem State University.  Whether degree candidates are pursuing a career in public schools, the burgeoning fields of early care, community or global education, or in educational change and advocacy, we immerse them in “the work” from day one.  The success of our programs relies on a curriculum grounded in practice, remarkable faculty, and dedicated field partners working in synchronization to prepare our degree candidates.   The associate dean manages this synchronization by providing strategic coordination across the multiple support and administrative functions of the school, in concert with the field.  Several of these functions are faculty led, including curriculum development and inter-course calibration, partnerships, field placement and clinical assignment, and assessment; other functions are staff directed, including student support services, licensure and certification, MTEL support, continuous improvement and state approvals.  Many functions are field driven.  All come under the associate dean's purview.  In addition, the associate dean serves as liaison with the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Graduate Studies on program and faculty collaborations that span the three units.
