The part-time medical provider will aide our evidence-based COVID clinical response based on established medical and public health protocols at Salem State University, primarily for students. During the COVID pandemic, the medical provider in this role will assist with surveillance (asymptomatic) test site supervision, symptomatic testing, contact tracing during surge workloads, assistance with enhanced testing efforts for higher risk campus communities, and support of vaccination initiatives. This is contract position is for 20 hours/week through June 2021, that will be re-evaluated every fiscal year.   This position is within our counseling and health services department, which is a multidisciplinary office that includes confidential counseling, health, and prevention services to the university community of students. The health center staff function to foster interpersonal development and address actual and potential health issues that create barriers to student success. A wide spectrum of medical services are provided by the health center staff. They include a focus on illness, injury, episodic and urgent care, reproductive health, immunizations, health promotion and prevention, outreach and wellness. During the 2020-2021 academic year, health services has played a crucial role in supporting the university’s response to the pandemic by developing and overseeing our asymptomatic and symptomatic testing protocols, contact tracing, quarantine and isolation of students, and continuing medical care throughout via telemedicine. Health staff are committed to supporting an environment that is culturally inclusive and recognizes diversity and personal development of our students, staff, faculty, and community partners.
