General Statement of Duties

The School of Nursing is seeking an electronic computer operator II (ECO II) to support the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Resource Center (NRC). Under the supervision of the Director of the Nursing Resource Center, this position organizes and collaborates in the creation of the simulation lab schedules for over 1500 student visits to the SIM lab each semester. This essential role to schedules students for supplemental instruction per course requirements, simulation lab schedules, clinical skills testing, as well as assist with scheduling the ATI NCLEX Review Course, and the ATI testing schedule. The ECO II is responsible for the input, correction, and disbursement in multiple internal and external electronic computer databases, including ATI, maintains medical supply inventory, and supervises student's work in the computer lab.

 

Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm, M-F

Break: One hour

Salary: $59,960.94 annually/$1,153.095 weekly

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Monitors all nursing laboratory activities to ensure effective operations in compliance with established learning objectives and standards.
  2. Develops and creates the simulation lab schedule in collaboration with the Assistant Director.
  3. Tracks and verifies nursing student compliance with simulation lab requirements.
  4. Develops and creates the supplemental instruction schedule with the Director and/or the Associate Dean.
  5. Tracks and verifies nursing student compliance with supplemental instruction requirements.
  6. Reviews and analyzes complex schedule trends for all nursing courses to synthesize simulation lab schedule to meet student’s needs.
  7. Schedules approx. 1500 sessions for students in the simulation labs and assists in scheduling the simulation lab staff. Inputs SON simulation lab sessions into the Canvas computerized platform throughout the academic year.
  8. Communicates with School of Nursing personnel to exchange information, to coordinate efforts and to obtain student information for the ATI computerized testing program. Data entry for scheduling 1500 ATI exams each academic year.
  9. Organizes the ATI TEAS Testing program, including: (a) communicating with ATI regarding computerized testing requirements and numbers of students; (b) processing testing scheduling requests throughout the academic year; (c) organizing computerized online TEAS examinations; e) accessing examinations, providing students with access codes, and overall examination direction; and (g) proctoring TEAS examinations, (h) processes TEAS deposits.
  10. Maintains various software databases necessary for record keeping and communication to nursing faculty and staff personnel e.g., a comprehensive student TEAS test result database, and simulation lab student attendance tracking.
  11. Compiles data for use in reporting lab activities such as student simulation lab attendance, TEAS test results, TEAS testing schedules; coordinates with ATI and posts TEAS schedule information in labs and on nursing website.
  12. Secures room assignments for all TEAS testing dates, SIM lab sessions, and nursing assessment courses, and adjunct faculty utilizing various skills laboratories.
  13. Tracks and verifies nursing student compliance with simulation lab requirements.
  14. Coordinates the Supplemental Instruction program for at risk students to support student success within the School of Nursing. Organizes the NCLEX Blast and ATI NCLEX Review by securing rooms and scheduling faculty. Data entry is required into multiple databases.
  15. Maintains liaison with the school of nursing, and various departments within the university to exchange information, to resolve problems and to coordinate activities.
  16. Supports the administration of the comprehensive computerized testing program by: (a) communicating with faculty regarding computerized testing requirements and numbers of students requiring accommodation; (b) processing testing scheduling requests throughout the academic year; (c) assisting with ordering computerized online examinations; e) assisting the director with accessing examinations, providing students with access codes, and overall examination direction; and (g) proctoring examinations.
  17. Maintains various databases necessary for record keeping and communication to nursing personnel e.g., a comprehensive student ATI test result database; remediation and supplemental instruction requirements for each nursing course; and database to track simulation equipment and medical supply usage.
  18. Analyzes technical and functional processes of planning and scheduling area. Establishes and recommends implementation of processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  19. Maintains simulation lab employee’s educational records and annual mandated requirements in compliance with BORN regulations.
  20. Assists faculty, staff and students with all equipment and media needs related to the nursing labs.
  21. Maintains stock of supplies and laboratory equipment, ordering equipment through appropriate vendors, logs information on borrowed supplies or equipment responding to staff and/or vendor inquiries regarding purchase orders and stockroom supplies. Collaborate with simulation lab staff about lab area needs, then coordinates and orders medical supplies essential to the simulation lab daily operations, and PPE supplies for students. Coordinates these activities for five nursing laboratories within the NRC.
  22. Supports and collaborates with NRC staff with the maintenance of nursing student compliance with simulation lab schedule requirements.
  23. Coordinating and scheduling 1500 student exams annually for approx. 600 students and their faculty in the computer lab for ATI testing and Supplemental Instruction.
  24. Responsible for the maintenance and integration of ATI and Supplemental Instruction events scheduling within the Canvas system. Tracks and verifies student compliance with ATI testing and Supplemental Instruction.
  25. Provides supplemental instruction compliance data to the Associate Dean of the SON, and ATI testing compliance data to the Director of the NRC. Statistical data is utilized for compliance to BORN requirements and CCNE accreditation standards.
  26. Inputs all SON ATI testing into Canvas for scheduling throughout the academic year. Reviews and analyzes complex schedule submissions for all nursing courses. Checks for errors and inconsistencies and works with Director to resolve initial problems.
  27. Serves as liaison and scheduling for faculty requesting staff to assist with proctoring exams, for both computer and paper exam formats. Secures proctor for exam requirements and communicates the proctor schedule to appropriate staff.
  28. Scheduling of clinically identified and exam testing for at-risk students’, for clinical skills remediation and supplemental instruction with Simulation Lab Instructors and Faculty Education Specialists as appropriate.
  29. Scheduling of approx. 600 students for clinical site required PPE medical masks for students annually. Maintains student database in adherence to compliance requirements for clinical agency requirements.
  30. Maintains accurate files and current information data pertaining to all undergraduate, evening program (CPS/G), and graduate students within the SON that utilize the NRC as it relates to historical and semester files. Generates reports as requested by the Associate Dean and Director of the NRC, in adherence to BORN requirements.
  31. Analyzes technical and functional processes of planning and scheduling area. Establishes and recommends implementation of processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  32. Uses various reporting tools such as but not limited to Canvas, PeopleSoft query, ATI database searches, Word, and MS Excel to build and prepare data for analysis and reporting. ATI Test results collation for the Nursing Resource Center Director and the School of Nursing Faculty as appropriate.
  33. Assists in the creation and maintenance of system documentation and operational procedural manuals for the Nursing Resource Center for students and faculty.
  34. Provide information and student records to the Compliance Coordinator and Administrative Assistant II in the SON.
  35. Synthesizes data and performs entry on different computer databases requiring high level of accuracy and skill in performing.

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in electronic data processing work and scheduling (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below (C) previous health care or scheduling experience preferred.

  

Substitutions:

  1. An Associate's degree or higher with a major in the field of data processing may be substituted for one year of the required experience.*
  2. Previous health care or scheduling experience in the medical field is preferred.

*Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience using various software applications and databases such as Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas, PeopleSoft, and ATI computer program database.
  2. Ability to analyze complex records and information, prepare reports from such records as requested by the Associate Dean of the SON and Director of the NRC.
  3. Ability to prepare technical reports in compliance with Board of Registration in Nursing regulations.
  4. Prior work experience in a healthcare environment.
  5. Ability to monitor and maintain medical supply inventories.

Working Conditions:

This is an on-site, in person position with on-campus responsibilities in offices, nursing laboratories, and classrooms which requires the ability to lift up to 20lbs when receiving and organizing medical supplies on shelves.
