The Head Men's and Women's Tennis coach will be responsible for all aspects of leading a varsity intercollegiate program in fullfillment of those goals.
The Head Coach will be responsible for organizing, implementing and directing all phases of the intercollegiate Men’s & Women’s Tennis team including:
1. Provides individual and group training and instruction during all practice sessions.
2. Is cognizant of and responsible for adhering to all the rules and regulations promulgated by Salem State University, the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), the NCAA and the other organizations with which the university is affiliated that are responsible for governing intercollegiate athletics.
3. Recruits academically and athletically qualified prospective student-athletes to the university in compliance with established NCAA, LEC, and institutional policies to ensure the on-going quality and success of the program.
4. Accompanies teams to all home and away contests.
5. Prepares reports and recommendations relative to the sport as requested including scheduling, budget preparation, program evaluations and eligibility verification.
6. Communicates regularly with the Athletic Trainers to determine the physical status and/or limitations of student athletes.
7. Is responsible for promoting the program is a positive manner and being a positive role model to the student-athletes in the program.
8. Responsible for tracking budget expenditures and reconciling procurement cards in a timely manner.
9. Participates in recruitment and hiring of part time assistant coach(es). Supervises assistant coaches and ensures all staff involved in the Men’s and Women's Tennis programs are aware of compliance rules and NCAA, conference, and Salem State guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in coaching both men's and women's tennis
