General Statement of Duties

The American Language and Culture Institute at Salem State University is seeking a dynamic and creative individual to join our team as a Graphic Designer, Social Media Specialist, and Spanish Language Outreach Assistant. This position requires a multi-faceted skill set to effectively communicate with our diverse audience, enhance the visual identity of the institute, manage social media platforms, and engage with Spanish-speaking communities to promote our programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Graphic Design:

    • Create visually appealing and cohesive designs for various promotional materials, including brochures, posters, banners, and digital assets.
    • Collaborate with the marketing and creative services team to develop graphics that align with the institute's branding guidelines.
    • Ensure consistency in design across all print and digital platforms.
  2. Social Media Management:

    • Develop and implement social media strategies to increase the institute's online presence.
    • Generate engaging content for various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
    • Monitor social media trends, respond to inquiries, and manage online communities.
    • Analyze social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.
  3. Spanish Language Outreach:

    • Assist in the development and implementation of outreach strategies targeting Spanish-speaking communities.
    • Create content in Spanish to effectively communicate with our target audience.
    • Build relationships with local Spanish-speaking organizations, community leaders, and influencers to promote ALCI programs.
    • Translate written materials from English to Spanish and vice versa.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in graphic design with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse design projects.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing social media platforms for organizations or brands.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures and communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

This is a hybrid position with on-campus, in-person responsibilities which may require ocasional work on evenings and weekends.
