The healthcare studies department at Salem State University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member beginning Fall 2019. Teaching assignments will depend upon the expertise of the candidate and programmatic needs, but may include career focused courses, academic and professional writing, diversity and cultural inclusiveness. The ideal candidate will work as a collaborative faculty member committed to academic excellence, innovation and student success.
Situated in the historic and beautiful seacoast town of Salem, Massachusetts, Salem State University is one of the largest state universities in Massachusetts and it is an important partner in the economic, cultural and intellectual vitality of the north-of-Boston region. Located 15 miles north of Boston, the healthcare studies department houses the newest degree program on campus, with over 200 majors enrolled as we enter our third year.

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.
An earned doctorate degree in a healthcare related field. Experience in and demonstrated commitment to full time teaching, internships and field experiences, research, advising, and mentoring of students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
Preferred candidates will have demonstrated interest in civic learning and civic engagement pedagogies; experience in and commitment to teaching in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles; experience using instructional technologies, teaching face-to-face and hybrid (partially online) classes and academic advising. An area of expertise that includes Health Care Information and Information Systems, Finance and Financial Management, Health insurance , Managed Care, and/or Pharmaceutical Management, practical (field-based) health administration experience, and experience working with community-based health organizations.
