  • General Statement of Duties

    Salem State University’s Department of Theatre and Speech Communication seeks adjunct faculty to teach two fully-enrolled sections of our SPC101 Oral Communication course for the upcoming fall 2018 semester. The faculty will be expected to develop course content and syllabi, as well as mentor and coach students in the practice of public speaking, both personally and professionally. Terminal degree in theatre or oral communication desired, MFA preferred.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties will also include advising students and curriculum/program development. Work collaboratively with faculty, in a school with future-directed leadership and a collective focus on academic excellence, success of our students and faculty development.


    Required Qualifications:

    • Terminal Degree in Theatre or Speech Communication
    • Teaching experience
    • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and collegiality
    • Strength and potential for excellence and leadership in community engagement and university services

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Appropriate terminal degree
    • College-level teaching experience, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
    • Experience teaching a multicultural population
