  • General Statement of Duties

    The secondary and higher education department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position beginning in Fall 2019 with an interest in teaching courses in teacher leadership, school leadership, and educational diversity and will collaborate with colleagues on program and school-wide projects. As a member of the School of Education, this faculty member will help to further develop and implement new and newly revised leadership programs; further the School’s commitment to preparing a cadre of future teachers and educational leaders who are culturally responsive; engage in a program of scholarly work; advise students; and provide service to the department and university. This candidate may eventually serve as the Graduate Program Coordinator for leadership programs in the School of Education (with associated responsibilities such as holding faculty meetings; course scheduling; developing curriculum; hiring; and training and evaluating adjuncts).

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in educational leadership or closely related field; demonstrated experience and evidence of expertise in teacher leadership; school leadership; school-community partnerships; developing and leading professional development; equitable instructional and/or leadership practices; and/or diversifying the educational workforce; evidence of teaching effectiveness in graduate- or undergraduate-level courses, or related experience; knowledge of current issues related to formal and informal school leadership and equity and justice in educational settings; and a record of scholarly productivity or professional impact in the field of educational leadership and/or equity in schooling.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience leading others in developing strategies and stances focused on racial justice in educational or similar settings; knowledge of the Massachusetts requirements for principal certification and/or experience scoring the Massachusetts Performance Assessment for Leaders (PAL) tasks; experience in a leadership role in public schools or a related setting (e.g., principal, assistant principal, superintendent, curriculum coordinator, assistant superintendent, etc.); experience with program development, coordination, and/or management in educational settings or a related field; experience launching and cultivating university-district partnerships; effective teaching in a variety of instructional formats (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, online) with graduate and undergraduate students; strong collaborative skills, including experience working collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, and community partners; and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
