  • General Statement of Duties

    Salem State University is seeking an adjunct applied instructor with an interest and experience in teaching applied voice. The successful candidate will be expected to instruct undergraduate students in private voice in on-campus weely lessons, help prepare students for various assessments, and assist in providing feedback on student learning for juries, recitals, etc. Instructors will also engage in departmental recruiting activities as appropriate, prepare course documents, assist in preparing and editing assessment tools, and other duties as assigned.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties will also include advising students and curriculum/program development. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with faculty in a liberal arts environment, with a focus on academic excellence and student success.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in vocal performance, vocal pedagogy, or related field
    • Experience in teaching applied voice lessons at the college/university level within a liberal arts context
    • Experience in teaching classical/traditional, contemporary, and musical theatre styles
    • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and collegiality
    • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, supervision, and advising
    • Strength and potential for excellence and leadership in community engagement and university services

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Appropriate terminal degree
    • College-level teaching experience, at the undergraduate level
    • Experience teaching a multicultural population
