General Statement of Duties

The senior software developer analyst provides top level technical expertise in one or more highly specialized areas of applications programming.  This position acts independently under general direction and will assist in the troubleshooting the most complex support issues. Extensive experience in information technology, application development, implementation, support and application maintenance are required. This position will require the ability to interpret information gathered from end-users and design and develop effective solutions to meet business needs.  The senior software developer analyst will research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle to support the information technology needs of the university.  This position requires the ability to conduct project meetings and coordinate project time-lines and resource requirements as necessary.  The area of support will be the PeopleSoft ERP Systems with a primary focus on the PeopleSoft Financials System.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. (E) Reviews system requirements, design, and business processes to ensure alignment with ITS and business strategies. Analyzes business processes and prioritize user development requirements to ensure strategic goals are met
  2. (E) Determines business and technical specifications, plans, designs, and develops complex business software solutions either individually or participating on a team project utilizing a variety of software development tools applicable to the application and business requirement
  3. (E) May act as an expert in the business or functional area in determining design specifications while working within system limitations
  4. (E) Design, code and debug applications in various software languages, especially focused on support of the PeopleSoft ERP Systems
  5. (E) Performs PeopleSoft patch analysis, technical customizations and/or recommendation of removals of modifications
  6. (E) Assists Information Technology Services and functional areas with software testing and quality assurance
  7. (E) Troubleshoots complex software issues related to delivered applications or custom enhancements
  8. (E) Designs and implements technical solutions related to the integration of ERP Systems with external systems such as third party applications
  9. (E) Create and maintain documentation regarding software functionality and technical specifications for custom development as well as delivered functionality as needed
  10. Coordinate migrations of changes upon documented user acceptance. Creates and maintains documentation for assigned systems
  11. Keeps current with the latest technology; attend technical trainings or webinars to maintain and gain technical expertise in current and emerging technologies
  12. May supervise and/or train other personnel assigned to the Information Technology Services department
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline; 7-10 years’ in relevant programming languages supporting an Enterprise Level Application; 7-10 years’ working within an enterprise level database application creating and maintaining table data and writing complex sql statements. Business analysis skills with strong attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; strong communication skills, both written and oral and a positive attitude toward sharing expertise and assisting others to learn.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with PeopleSoft Financials. Solid understanding of financial business practices. Previous experience with the following PeopleSoft Toolsets: application designer, peoplecode, sqr, SQL, integration broker, application engine, component interface, and work centers.  Custom portal design and development in a PeopleSoft Application to enhance the user experience.  Experience working with PeopleTools 8.54 or higher. Experience working in a Higher Education environment.
