This full-time tenure-track faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood education and program administration; advise undergraduate students; collaborate with colleagues on program and school-wide projects. This faculty member will help to further develop the School of Education’s new undergraduate program in Early Education and Care; engage in a program of scholarly work; and provide service to the department and university.

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.
Earned doctorate or ABD from a regionally accredited institution in early childhood education or closely related field--and if ABD, will have a doctorate by June 30, 2018--with evidence of an intensive focus on birth-8 care and education including one or more of the following areas of expertise: early childhood special education; early intervention; child studies; community-based education; parent engagement; Three or more years of working with young children (birth – 8), families, and /or early childhood professionals in a variety of settings (e.g., public schools, preschools, home-visits, daycares, community programs, etc.) or related setting; Evidence of teaching effectiveness in graduate- or undergraduate-level courses, or related experience; Knowledge of current issues related to birth-8 early education and care; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Record of scholarly productivity or professional impact in the field of early childhood education and Experience working collaboratively preferably with early childhood personnel, community partners, families, and/or other professionals
Experience in assessment and intervention with ages birth to 8; experience with grant writing, program assessment and program coordination; knowledge of, and experience in, culturally responsive teaching practices; a demonstrated record of, or potential for, effective teaching in a variety of instructional formats (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, online); demonstrated knowledge of the professional standards established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC); evidence of a professional commitment to programs that prepare students to teach culturally, linguistically, and academically diverse students with or without disabilities; expertise in either family engagement or early intervention; experience or commitment to collegiality and working collaboratively with other faculty in joint research, teaching ventures and curriculum development.
