General Statement of Duties

Salem State University is seeking adjunct professors with interest and experience teaching clinical nursing. Clinical assignments will depend on the expertise of the candidate and needs of the programs. Clinical assignments may be day, evenings or weekends and range from 6 hours to 15 hours each week with the majority being 15 hours/week assignments over the course of the semester.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The clinical instructor will have accountability for instruction, supervision, and evaluation of a diverse student population in the clinical practice and/or laboratory setting.  Responsible for weekly updates with the course coordinator.  Attend the annual update for clinical instructors at the School of Nursing and orientation/training as required by the clinical placement.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Current  license to practice as a RN in Massachusetts
  • Master’s degree in nursing or will consider a BSN with 5 years clinical experience
  • Current clinical experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and collegiality
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical teaching

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience teaching clinical nursing
  • Experience teaching in a multicultural population

  • Adjunct positions are temporary for one semester only, with a possibility for re-hire. All candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States. Adjunct positions are not eligible for H1B Visa sponsorship
