General Statement of Duties

The department of chemistry & physics seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to teach upper-level biochemistry as well as introductory chemistry courses and laboratories beginning in September 2018.  Teaching assignments include upper level courses in the area of the candidate's expertise and other departmental instructional needs.  As a member of a cooperative and collegial campus community, the successful candidate will also serve on university-wide committees and is expected to be an active scholar.

Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

A doctorate in chemistry/biochemistry or a closely related field; and experience in teaching at the college level.  

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of an ability to teach effectively college level chemistry courses; experience in and a commitment to teaching in a multicultural, multiracial environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles; and experience with instructional technology and active learning techniques.
